- In 2020, 105,382 people were injured in 247,285 reportable crashes (down nearly 40,000 crashes from 2019) and 1,658 people lost their lives on NC roads (up more than 11% from 2019). This is the largest number of fatalities since 2007. Each year, people of color and low-income earners are disproportionately represented in these crashes.

This may include efforts to raise safety awareness, change unsafe behaviors, affect policy, improve vehicle safety or promote built environments that enhance roadway safety in North Carolina and beyond.
