Introduction

The volume of data created from the exporting and importing of consumer goods and products to and from the U.S. is massive. The United States Import Records Bill of Lading Summary is a dataset that is collected by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection to keep track of these imports. The Automated Manifest System (AMS) is the actual information collected throughout ports and points of entry around the US. Attributes have field information about every single container and cargo. Our team was provided access to the port dataset for 5 years. Due to the massive volume of the dataset and timeline our team was forced to limit our scope. The client asked that we evaluate the inbound and outbound traffic flow patterns for the cargo entering the Port of Wilmington, NC.
