The UNC Highway Safety
Research Center has 46 ongoing projects at this time funded by agencies
such as the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, the National Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention, the Federal Highway Administration,
the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the North Carolina
Governor's Highway Safety Program, the North Carolina Division of Motor
Vehicles, the Florida DOT, General Motors, Corp., the Institute for
Transportation Research & Education, the Research Triangle Institute,
Worchester Polytechnic Institute, Bellomo-McGee, Inc., ITT Systems &
Sciences Corp., and the Carolinas Medical Center. This page highlights
two of our ongoing studies. HSRC conducts applied research and develops
and evaluates transportation safety programs with particular emphasis
on highway, pedestrian and bicycle travel.
