Introduction

The freight transportation in the United States nearly accounts for an average movement of 51 million tons per day. Further, trucks are responsible for transferring 71% of the freight tonnage.

The size, weight and braking abilities of the trucks influence the overall performance of a traffic stream. Further, delays in the scheduled deliveries cost the shippers an extra amount by 50% to 250%.

This research aims to analyze the truck travel time performance measures and investigate their association with on-network and off-network characteristics.
