In 2007:
Nearly 30% of all fatal crashes occurring in North Carolina involved alcohol.
A reportable crash was 1.7 times more likely to be serious enough to cause injury if alcohol was involved.
Crashes involving injury were 4.5 times more likely to include a fatality if alcohol was involved.
While 1 of every 19 crashes involved alcohol, 1 of every 3 fatal crashes and 1 of every 12 non-fatal injury crashes involved alcohol.
